In the Hospital
Initially, your first several meals will be the chef's choice for your prescribed diet. Soon a Food Service Hospitality Assistant will visit and review menu choices with you. We are very proud to offer you local favorite type fare. We offer two options:
§ Option one is a hot home-style meal, and;
§ Option two is usually a lighter meal, such as soup and sandwich, or cold fruit or salad plate.
Your doctor may order certain diagnostic procedures such as x-ray, lab or other tests that require you not to eat prior to the test. Our staff will make every effort to have your meal brought to you promptly after the tests are completed. We stock juices, crackers, sodas and assorted snacks on the nursing unit. Please feel free to ask your nurse for any of these to hold you over.
The Food and Nutrition Team here at Gaston Memorial recognizes the importance of good nutrition as part of your recovery. If we may assist you in any way, or if we are not exceeding your meal expectations, please call us at extensions 704-834-3970 or 704-834-2845.
Guest Meals
If a visitor wishes to dine with you, a guest meal tray may be ordered and paid for in the second floor cafeteria or by contacting your Hospitality Assistant. We respectfully request that guest trays be ordered and paid for one hour prior to your meal time. The charge for a guest tray is $5.00. The guest meal will arrive at the same time as your meal and will be identified with an orange guest tray sticker.
